This is a book blog that was set up in June of 2013. It was first named My Books, My Shelves and I, but, as that was quite a mouthful, I changed it to Books for Birds. I have brought the blog along with me through switches between Blogger and Wordpress, various design phases, and here we are today. I set up this blog to share all my bookish opinions and thought with other people who would genuinely understand what I was talking about. I review teens, tweens, YA, and occasionally NA books. I also post interviews and all other bookish matter. Starting this blog has, without a doubt, been one of my best decisions. From all the authors I've gotten to talk to, the amazing bloggers, I don't regret anything, not even the crazy fangirl moments!
The Magic Behind the Blog
My name is Fionnuala (pronounced Fin-u-la), I'm the fourteen year old behind Books for Birds. My blog is based in Northern Ireland. I have always loved reading and writing. I don't think there has ever been a time that I haven't loved reading. From my mum reading out a Disney princess story book whilst I was in bed, to me spending my school break-times at the library.
At first I started blogging to fill up my spare time, but now I'm so busy with coursework (for GCSE), that I don't even have spare time! But I'm committed to this blog, its not even a hobby anymore its like a lifestyle choice! And I love every second of it!
I am a compulsive book-buyer, it is so hard for me to walk by a bookshop and not go in, even to browse, but as soon as I'm browsing every book seems to whisper 'Buy me. Buy me' and who am I to deny the wishes of books?
Some of my favorite books include:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, The Divergent Trilogy, The Hunger Games Trilogy, The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, By Midnight by Mia James, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, My Name Is Mina by David Almond, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series.
